About the Role
This role provides technical and practical support for floodplain management including assisting with development assessments and addressing flooding and water sensitive urban design (WSUD) matters. It involves managing and contributing to floodplain projects, undertaking field inspections, and providing engineering advice, while supporting strategic planning.
The main duties of this position includes:
- Provide technical support to the Floodplain Management Program. This includes project management of Flood Studies, Flood Risk Management Studies and Flood Risk Management Plans and their implementation for the City in accordance with the NSW Government's Flood Prone Land Policy and the principles outlined in the NSW Flood Risk Management Manual (2023).
- Provide technical support for development application assessment and major projects in relation to flooding and WSUD issues.
- Provide technical support for grant management including project scoping, project timeline and budget monitoring and review, and grant reporting.
- Assist with strategic management of WSUD matters across the city.
- Liaise with appropriate internal and external stakeholders to ensure responsible parties are aware of their roles and deadlines.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil/Environmental Engineering or equivalent field
- Class C Driver's Licence.
- Proof of right to work in Australia.
