We are seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Design Engineer to join our Engineering Services team. This exciting opportunity will see you play a key role in the planning, design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects that support the continued growth and development of the Shire.
In this role you will have the following accountabilities:
- Design and draft roads, drainage systems, pathways and other civil infrastructure projects.
- Assist with project scoping, conceptual design development and preparation of cost estimates.
- Prepare line marking and signage plans in accordance with relevant standards and guidelines.
- Undertake survey design activities and coordinate external survey services when required.
- Prepare grant funding applications and associated acquittals.
- Coordinate utility and service relocations associated with infrastructure projects.
- Manage and support the delivery of infrastructure projects including bus shelter and street lighting installations.
- Prepare project briefs, evaluate submissions and manage consultant engagements.
- Calculate quantities, prepare estimates and assist with tender documentation.
- Review and verify design drawings and update as-constructed records.
- Prepare technical reports and Council reports as required.
- Support traffic management activities, including reviewing Traffic Management Plans and coordinating traffic data collection.
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, legislation and workplace health and safety requirements.
Our preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate the following experiences and skillset:
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering with a minimum of five years' experience in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of civil infrastructure design including roads, drainage, pathways and public infrastructure.
- Experience preparing cost estimates, tender documentation and project specifications.
- Sound knowledge of Australian engineering design and drafting standards.
- Advanced experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong survey knowledge and experience applying survey information to civil designs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement.
- Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within required timeframes.
- Current "C" Class Driver's Licence.
The following will be highly regarded:
- Advanced Traffic Management Certificate.
- Local Government experience.
- Eligibility for Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Australia.
- Experience using TechnologyOne software..
