The Opportunity
We're excited to offer an opportunity to join our Finance team as an Accounts & Payroll Officer on a 15 month fixed term contract.
In this role, you'll play an important part in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of payroll and accounts payable services across the Agency. You'll be responsible for supporting end-to-end payroll administration, working closely with our outsourced payroll provider and partnering with People & Culture to deliver a seamless payroll experience for employees.
You'll also provide critical accounts payable support, helping manage invoice processing, payment runs, reconciliations and vendor enquiries. This is a varied role that combines payroll operations, financial administration, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement in a collaborative and supportive environment.

What you'll be doing
Manage the end-to-end processing of fortnightly payroll, ensuring employee payments are accurate and delivered on time.
Liaise with the Agency's outsourced payroll provider to coordinate payroll processing and resolve payroll-related matters.
Manage payroll transactions such as allowances, deductions, terminations and other payroll adjustments.
Coordinate payroll onboarding and offboarding activities, working closely with the People & Culture team.
Prepare payroll reconciliations, validation reports and variance analysis to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
Monitor payroll compliance requirements, including taxation, superannuation and other legislative obligations.
Support payroll reporting, analysis and preparation of information for leadership reporting and external requirements.
Manage employee payroll enquiries and provide responsive, customer-focused support.
Process supplier invoices and ensure payments are made accurately and within agreed timeframes.
Prepare weekly and ad hoc payment runs and maintain accurate accounts payable records.
Respond to vendor enquiries and manage the Accounts Payable inbox.
Prepare journals, reconciliations and other financial administration activities.
Maintain procedures, controls and documentation to support strong governance and operational effectiveness.
Identify opportunities to improve payroll and finance processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
We're interested in hearing from people who are organised, reliable and committed to delivering high-quality service to both internal and external stakeholders.
You may come from a payroll, accounts payable, finance administration or accounting support background and enjoy working in a role that combines process management, stakeholder engagement and problem solving.
You'll likely bring:
Experience in payroll administration and processing.
Experience in accounts payable, finance administration or a similar role.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage work accurately in a high-volume environment.
Sound understanding of payroll processes and compliance requirements.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Experience working with finance, payroll or ERP systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across the organisation.
A customer-focused approach and commitment to delivering responsive and reliable service.
A proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership of tasks and outcomes.
Experience with Aurion and/or Workday would be highly regarded.
Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting or a related discipline, or relevant equivalent experience.
Diploma-level qualifications in Business, Accounting or Finance will also be considered.
