About the role:
HOBAN Recruitment is partnering with a key South Australian Government agency to recruit a Senior Freedom of Information (FOI) Officer. In this pivotal role, you will manage complex FOI applications and support the delivery of high-quality, legally compliant outcomes.

Key responsibilities:
Assess and process FOI applications under the Freedom of Information Act 1991, including complex determinations and reporting.
Liaise with stakeholders, legal representatives, other agencies, and the public to provide accurate and timely advice.
Draft detailed written correspondence and determinations, ensuring all legislative obligations are met.
Mentor and support FOI team members, contributing to professional development and capability uplift.
Review and develop FOI policy and procedures in line with legislative reforms and best practice.
Collaborate with senior management on sensitive or high-profile applications, including those from the media or Members of Parliament.
Maintain high standards of confidentiality, compliance, and service delivery across all FOI processes.
About you:
Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying FOI legislation and related policies.
Proven ability to handle sensitive and complex information with sound judgement and discretion.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally across varied audiences.
Experience in drafting FOI determinations, undertaking legislative research, and managing caseloads under tight deadlines.
High level of attention to detail and ability to meet statutory timeframes under pressure.
Commitment to customer service excellence and continuous improvement.
Experience in mentoring or guiding others in a team environment.
Knowledge of the Information Privacy Principles, State Records Act, and related government protocols.
Understanding of Equity and Diversity principles, WHS legislation, and risk management frameworks.
Completion of a State Records FOI Officer course (desirable).
Must hold a current National Police Check.
