About the role
Provide technical advice and litigation management in relation to the management of workers compensation and work injury damages claims. Optimise claims management processes and develop and educate Senior Case Manager/ Case Managers with respect to the relevant law and strategies to optimise health and return to work outcomes. The Technical Claims Specialist is responsible for ensuring legislative and regulatory compliance including obligations under Endeavour Energy’s self-insurance license obligations.
Key accountabilities
- Provide expert advice on policy, legislation, claims management, injury management, and related systems/processes, acting as the subject matter expert for workers compensation and work injury damages.
- Support capability building by delivering technical training and educational material to Case Managers and other internal stakeholders, while also leading relevant projects and contributing subject matter expertise to cross-functional teams.
- Manage complex and litigated claims, represent Endeavour Energy in legal matters, engage with external legal providers and internal counsel, and lead settlement negotiations within delegated authority.
- Drive strategic improvements by conducting claim reviews, identifying process optimisation opportunities, overseeing approved changes, and ensuring compliance with self-insurance licence requirements in partnership with the Corporate Insurance Manager.
- Analyse and report data to internal and external stakeholders, prepare impact assessments for significant matters, and ensure timely submissions to SIRA and for actuarial purposes.
About you
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Services, Law or equivalent or equivalent business experience
- Cert IV or Diploma in Personal Injury Management or equivalent
- SIRA Return to Work Coordination Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
Technical Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a technical or legal specialist role within the NSW Workers Compensation scheme, preferably in a specialised or self-insurer environment.
- Superior technical knowledge and experience in applying the principles of the Workers Compensation legislation, Workers Compensation Guidelines, Standards of Practice and other regulatory framework.
- Experience in managing litigated claims in the Personal Injury Commission and Work Injury Damages claims.
- General liability claims experience would be considered favourably.
