Your Position:
As a Casual Library
Customer Experience Assistant, you will engage with customers, assist the community with access to library resources
and contribute to the excellent library services available. Successful
applicants will be employed on a casual day-to-day basis, rostered between
Monday to Sunday, primarily between the hours of 9.00am and 8.00pm
Your responsibilities will include, but not be
limited to:
- Taking a proactive approach to customer service,
actively engaging with library users throughout the facility to ensure every
visitor receives an exceptional experience. Drawing on your knowledge of our
services, collections, and programs, you will provide consistent, high-quality
assistance that meets diverse customer needs.
- Helping customers locate and access information
resources, offering expert guidance and recommendations while connecting them
with specialist staff or alternative sources when appropriate. You will actively
seek opportunities to promote library services, collections, and programs that
align with individual customer interests, building meaningful relationships
that enhance their library experience.
- Technology support forms a key part of your
responsibilities, as you will guide customers in effectively using our ICT
services and facilities.
- Performing essential library operations including
shelving, and facility upkeep, ensuring our spaces remain organized,
accessible, and welcoming for all users.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have experience in customer service with a
demonstrated commitment to ensuring that all customers receive a positive
experience at all times.
- Possess well-developed interpersonal skills and communication skills with the ability to deal effectively with a wide range of people.
- Have demonstrated high level PC literacy,
including experience with interactive, mobile and social networking
technologies and basic technology trouble shooting skills.
- Have proven ability to work co-operatively as
part of a team in a customer service environment

Key Requirements:
- Current and valid Working With Children Check
- Preference will be given to
applicants that have vocational or tertiary qualifications in
library and information sciences and/or equivalent experience.
- While not essential, applicants
with the ability to speak a second
language, particularly a community language commonly spoken in the Burwood area
(Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Nepali) is beneficial.
