About the role:
Walgett Shire Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Customer Service Officer to lead our front-line service delivery and support our community with professionalism and care. In this key role, you’ll manage a small team, handle complex and escalated enquiries, and ensure the smooth operation of our customer service and records functions. With a focus on delivering consistent, high-quality service across all channels, this is a critical role for a Council committed to transparency, teamwork, and delivering positive outcomes for the community.
The position is fulltime, working business hours from the Council Chambers in Walgett NSW.
About you:

Proven experience delivering professional, solutions-focused customer service across phone, email, and in-person interactions

Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills to manage complex or sensitive enquiries

Demonstrated ability to lead and support a small team in a busy front-office environment

Sound knowledge of records management principles with a focus on compliance, privacy, and accuracy

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels
-
Certificate IV in Customer Service, Business Administration, or a related field, and at least three years’ experience in a high-volume service or administrative setting
