About the Role
Shoalhaven Water is seeking a dedicated Major Construction Supervisor to lead and manage the operations of our Major Construction Crew within Shoalhaven Water. This role is responsible for planning and supervising major construction and maintenance works for water and wastewater distribution and headwork facilities.
Reporting to the Construction Coordinator, you will oversee a team of 8 direct reports and play a key role in maintaining customer service standards, environmental protection, workplace safety and support the day-today operation for the team.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Supervises and supports a team within Council to enable Council to function at an optimal level.
- Exhibits leadership behaviours by showing initiative, taking responsibility for self and group actions and referring issues of ethics and probity.
- Supports continuous improvement by identifying improvements to processes and practices and supporting change.
- Undertake project planning including investigation, CCTV, basic plans, estimating, ordering materials and organising resources.
- Provide advice in relation to major sewer repairs to the Construction Coordinator.
- Actively promote involvement of staff in team meetings.
- Ensure adequate level and distribution of staffing is maintained to meet operational requirements.

Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- Certificate IV in Water Industry (i.e. Civil Engineering or Water/Wastewater Engineering), relevant trade qualifications or considerable experience in construction of wastewater/water systems.
- Class C Driver's Licence.
- Current NSW SafeWork First Aid Certificate.
- Current National WHS Construction Card (SafeWork).
- Current NSW SafeWork Confined Spaces Entry Certificate.
- Asbestos Licence for removal of >10 sq meters
- Proof of Australian residency or citizenship or authority to work in Australia (visa).
- Supervisory experience (including the ability to lead and promote teamwork).
- Recent relevant experience in water and/or wastewater infrastructure work.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project or similar software.
- Knowledge of and ability to prepare quotes and estimates for minor work and the ability to monitor project expenditure.
- Read and understand service standards and project documentation.
- Write routine correspondence and reports.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to follow defined WHS policies and procedures.
- A commitment to undertake relevant workplace training.
- Must be willing to work on call.
