The role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Safety Project Officer to help shape a positive and proactive safety culture across our organisation. You will play a key role in delivering Council’s Safety & Wellbeing Strategy and lead safety and wellbeing project initiatives across diverse departments. This is an exciting opportunity to work at a strategic level, drive continuous improvement, and influence organisational safety and wellbeing outcomes.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
• Lead and implement safety projects aligned with Council’s Safety & Wellbeing Strategy
• Support safety and wellbeing programs for business units across Council
• Coordinate and facilitate WHS education and engagement initiatives
• Analyse safety performance and identify opportunities for improvement
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Research and apply industry best practices to safety systems and processes
• Ensure accurate WHS reporting and monitor project impact

You will have
• Experience managing projects and engaging multiple stakeholders
• Excellent communication, relationship-building and influencing skills
• Familiarity interpreting provisions of relevant legislation
• Sound project management and analytical capabilities
• Experience in safety management systems design and implementation
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in WHS or similar discipline (or equivalent experience)
Desirable: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, RTW Coordinator accreditation.
The salary for this opportunity starts at $93,583 (Grade G, Step 1) plus 12% super.
