As a Special Projects Officer, you’ll play a vital support role within the Financial Operations Branch, contributing to a wide range of revenue and expenditure functions. You’ll assist with special projects, provide relief across multiple finance roles during peak periods or staff absences, and help maintain key financial systems. This role offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to work across revenue functions including rating, asset management, and statutory reporting functions, all while supporting the financial integrity of Council operations.
You'll find growth through:
- Undertaking special financial projects as directed by the Manager or senior accountants.
- Providing relief across various finance roles, including Rating, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Debt Recovery.
- Assisting with the financial management of Council assets and ensure accurate entries in the General Ledger.
- Maintaining and update the Rating, Water Billing, and Valuation systems to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
- Contributing to the smooth operation of financial services by supporting both Revenue and Statutory Accounting teams as needed.
What you'll bring
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- Certificate III in Finance, Business or related discipline
- Experience in carrying out Revenue and Expenditure related functions
- Experience in using PC based office application software
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and excellent customer service
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving ability
We would also love you to have:
- Good understanding of accounting principles and procedures including Asset related accounting
- Knowledge of Rating provisions of the Local Government Act

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $73,543 to $85,470.
