The Natural Areas Team is responsible for developing strategy and policy and delivering strategic environmental management programs including bushfire hazard reduction, environmental regeneration and pest species management, threatened species conservation, urban greening, environmental education and awareness and bushland activation to overall enhance liveability of the Campbelltown city.
About the role:
We are currently seeking a Senior Biodiversity Officer. In this role you will be primarily responsible for the strategic planning, delivery and reporting of Campbelltown’s Biodiversity Plan, assisting with environmental assessments and delivering threatened species conservation projects. The role also includes management of Council’s water quality monitoring and undertaking monitoring for a range of projects and programs in partnership with the Natural Areas team. The role is suited to a friendly, hardworking, team orientated and honest person who is passionate, focused and driven to improve the local environment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental management, environmental assessment, project management or equivalent technical background and experience.
Class C Drivers Licence.
Construction Induction Card (White Card) and Senior First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain will be highly regarded.
Demonstrated experience in the application of relevant legislation including but not limited to the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999
Experience in water quality monitoring and natural swim site assessment
High level experience in fostering positive relationships with internal staff and external stakeholders including government representatives and community
Ability to intermittently work outside normal working hours e.g. weekends
