Salary: $86,559.98 - $100,596.80 + 12% Superannuation per annum

What you'll do
As our Team Leader Shelter Operations, you'll report to the Coordinator Business Service and be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, coordination and performance of the Wingecarribee Animal Shelter. As the frontline leader, this role ensures the consistent and safe delivery of shelter operations and contributes to operational planning, staff development, community education and service improvement. This position acts as a conduit between strategic direction and operational execution, providing first-level leadership, resourcing, decision making and reporting in line with Council’s values, plans and regulatory obligations.

What you'll need to succeed (Essential Criteria)
- Certificate III in Companion Animal Services (or equivalent experience in animal care or welfare operations) and Cert IV in Leadership and Management or 2 years demonstrated experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading or supervising a small operational team, including rostering, task allocation, and performance support.
- Proven ability to manage shelter operations including animal care, impounding, rehoming, and compliance with relevant legislation (e.g. Companion Animals Act 1998).
- Experience working in a public-facing environment, including managing challenging or emotionally charged customer interactions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to coach staff, liaise with stakeholders, and foster a positive team culture.
- High-level organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands, make decisions under pressure, and deliver outcomes.
- Experience using digital animal management or shelter systems (e.g. Shelter Buddy, NSW Pet Registry) and maintaining accurate records.
- Sound knowledge of WHS responsibilities and demonstrated commitment to safety, ethical conduct, and animal welfare.
Other Requirements
- Hold a current Class C Driver Licence
- Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical prior to commencement
- Complete immunisation record for Tetanus or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
- Hold a current Working with Children's Check or be willing to obtain prior to commencement
