Apprentice Sports Turf Management
Temporary Full-time - 4-year Apprenticeship
38 hours a week + Rostered day off every fortnight + Access to Study Leave
Salary as per Local Government (State) Award 2023 (Trainee Wages)
Are you eager to start a career in sports turf management and grow your expertise in a supportive, practical learning environment. We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Sports Turf Technician to join our team.
What you'll do
As an Apprentice Sports Turf Management, you will work with Councils highly qualified Sports Fields Maintenance Officer to gain hands-on experience in the maintenance, preparation, and improvement of sports fields and open spaces, while working towards a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management. Under the guidance of experienced staff, you will learn to operate turf management equipment, assist with irrigation and turf care, apply fertilisers and chemicals safely, and develop practical skills in maintaining high-quality recreational spaces.

What you'll need to succeed (Essential Criteria)
- Completion of Year 10 with satisfactory outcomes (Record of School Achievement RoSA) or equivalent.
- Suitable literacy, numeracy, and digital literacy skills to manage the educational and professional requirements of the apprenticeship.
- A genuine interest and passion for a career in sports turf management, parks, and landscaping.
- Ability to follow instructions, learn from team leaders, and actively contribute as part of a multi-skilled team.
- Demonstrated commitment to training, personal development, and achieving competency in a trade environment.
- Ability to develop and apply sound knowledge and understanding of Workplace Health and Safety principles in practical settings.
Other Requirements
- Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical prior to commencement
- Complete immunisation record of Tetanus or willing to obtain prior to commencement
