JOB DETAILS:
Permanent Full Time, 35 hours, 5 days/week $ 102,853.98- $ 112,701.67
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To partner with the assigned business units to provide specialised work health and safety services to support the delivery of high quality, safe and sustainable processes of work. Promote the Corporate Safety management System, provide guidance on legislative requirements, regulations, codes of practice and industry standards relating to all aspects of workplace health and safety.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic and operational WHS advice to management to ensure Council-wide compliance with legislative and best-practice safety standards.
- Manage safety-related aspects of service delivery, including risk assessments, SWMS, SOPs, and induction processes.
- Monitor, audit, and report on WHS performance across assigned Directorates, contractors, and volunteers.
- Develop and deliver general and role-specific safety training, ensuring high levels of compliance.
- Build effective relationships with regulatory bodies, unions, and internal WHS committees
- Promote and embed the Corporate Safety Management System and contribute to its continuous improvement.
ABOUT YOU
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline ICAM or equivalent incident investigation training
- Current NSW Class C Driver’s Licence
- Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain within 3 months
- Strong experience in a safety-related role, ideally in high-risk or operational environments
- Relevant experience in any of the following: Operations, Trades and Labour, Customer service, Child Care, Events or Facilities management
- Proven ability to manage complex workplace safety issues
- Experience working with regulators, unions, and a wide range of stakeholders
- Sound knowledge of WHS practices and legislation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to promote and maintain a positive safety culture
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related systems
- Desirable: membership of a relevant professional association, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and/or WHS Management Systems Auditor qualification
