About the Role
This role provides progressive and strategic leadership to a multi‑disciplinary team responsible for delivering Council's asset maintenance programs and selected capital works on time and within budget. The position also oversees assigned functions within the Mechanical/Fabricator Services Business Unit. This includes the day‑to‑day management of staff, finances, and assets to ensure alignment with organisational objectives and annual operational plans, supporting strong triple‑bottom‑line outcomes for the community.
Key responsibilities include leading Council's civil infrastructure maintenance program for defined areas, managing civil infrastructure construction activities, overseeing operations within the Mechanical/Fabricator Services Business Unit, and supporting Council's engineering response during emergency events. This role is essential in driving operational excellence, fostering a positive and productive work culture, optimising resources, and ensuring high‑quality service delivery across the organisation.

Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.
The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- High self‑motivation, with proven leadership capability to enhance and sustain a positive team culture.
- University Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Not less than 5 years' experience in the delivery of a wide range of civil infrastructure projects and maintenance programs, including allocation and management of resources.
- Demonstrated experience in the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, standards and guidelines.
- Class C Driver's License
- Workcover General Induction Card (or willing to obtain)
- Proof of right to work in Australia
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and forward‑thinking leader with the capability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams and deliver complex asset construction and maintenance programs on time and within budget. They will bring strong operational and financial management skills, with the ability to oversee mechanical services, staff performance, and asset management in alignment with organisational goals.
