JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a
Coordinator Strategic Planning to provide direction, leadership and support to a dynamic and committed team that is working collectively to ensure new development is effectively complemented with the necessary infrastructure and services required to enable our vibrant communities to flourish well into the future.
Key responsibilities:
- Leading a team of 12 professionals responsible for the review, assessment and preparation of Planning Proposals that will positively shape the future of the Liverpool LGA;
- Working collaboratively with key stakeholders within Council, NSW Government Agencies, industry and community representatives to ensure the strategic planning directives of Council are proactively embedded within new development opportunities;
- Overseeing a strategic planning portfolio that covers a vast array of land use challenges – two city centres (Liverpool and Bradfield), established suburbs, growth precincts, rural villages, and a new Global Gateway, the Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport – but with so much potential to influence; and
- Delivering expert support, guidance and advice to the Manager City Planning, the Council, Executive Leadership Team and other staff relating to strategic land use planning in a timely and professional manner.
ABOUT YOU:
- Relevant degree qualifications in town planning or urban planning or comparable experience
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
- Proven leadership and management skills and ability to effectively lead, mentor and coach a diverse team in the delivery of sound strategic and operational outcomes within a complex, multi-disciplinary, customer focussed organisation.
- High level of professional planning knowledge and demonstrated experience in the effective delivery of planning strategy in local government. Advanced understanding of planning legislation and demonstrated ability to interpret planning instruments and provide expert planning advice.
- Demonstrated sound interpersonal and communication skills. Research skills and experience in complex report writing and reviewing. Proven conflict resolution and mediation skills and the capacity to achieve win-win outcomes in difficult negotiations.
- Track record of success in initiating and driving change and continuous improvement in a diverse service environment.
- Highly developed organisational, time management and project management skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, coordinate work teams, manage competing priorities and achieve deadlines.
- Sound understanding of, and commitment to, excellence in customer service. Experience in identifying and responding to Councillor, community and customer needs in the delivery of quality customer service outcomes.
