About the Role
Provide project management and technical engineering expertise to support Council's Floodplain Management Program. This includes assessing flood‑related development proposals, managing grants, contributing financial inputs to strategic planning, coordinating technical studies and mitigation works, and supporting the operation of Council's Flood Alert Network and future Total Flood Warning System.
The main duties of this role include:
- Project manage Flood Studies, Flood Risk Management Studies, Flood Risk Management Plans and their implementation for the City in accordance with the NSW Flood Prone Land Policy and the NSW Flood Risk Management Manual (2023).
- Provide technical advice and assessment of flood related information submitted with development applications.
- Provide technical advice and assessment of flood related information submitted with caravan park applications.
- Prepare project scoping and estimates for the implementation of flood risk management plans and new investigations, monitor progress in accordance with project management principles.
- Prepare technical project briefs and procurement documents to engage consultants and/or contractors as required for technical studies, detail design works, and construction works.
- Provide technical input to entrance management activities, including the preparation of relevant policies, liaison with internal and external stakeholders, and support the coordination of the implementation of entrance management activities
- Coordinate and prepare grant applications and integrate Council's matching funds into the Council budget and Management Planning process.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- Civil/Environmental Engineering Degree or equivalent.
- Eligibility for Chartered Professional Engineering status with the Institution of Engineers Australia.
- Minimum 5 years' professional experience in floodplain management and floodplain engineering.
- Class C Driver's Licence.
- Proof of right to work in Australia
