The Assistant Director, HR Strategy and Indigenous Liaison Officer is responsible for the development, implementation and reporting on the department’s people, culture and inclusion functions including the People Strategy and Reconciliation Action Plan.
Leading a small team, you are responsible for the development and implementation of strategic people initiatives that foster an inclusive, capable, innovative and engaged workforce. You will also lead engagement with the Department of Education’s employee-led diversity networks, supporting and promoting their awareness-raising activities and working to build capability across the department and embed a workplace culture that respects and values diverse backgrounds, abilities and perspectives.
Your work includes a specific focus on First Nations cultural capability development as part of their Indigenous Liaison Officer role, as well as leading consultation with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Network, supporting Reconciliation Action Plan governance activities, and working with colleagues across the Human Resources functions to support First Nations employees.
To be successful in this role, you will be a knowledgeable in contemporary human resource management practices, including the ability to develop and implement strategies to build capability, drive change and foster high-performing workplaces. You will also be an experienced leader, able to guide a busy team and manage their workloads, and deal with complex and sensitive matters.
