About the role
Are you passionate about working outdoors and making a positive impact? The City is looking for highly motivated and skilled Works Assistants to join our team! Your responsibilities will include maintaining parks, gardens, amenities, and playgrounds within the Coffs Coast community.
As a Works Assistant, you will utilise your expertise in horticulture, turf maintenance, and construction skills to support the Open Spaces Coordinator/s in various projects. Your role will involve implementing herbicide programs for parkland maintenance, asset maintenance, and repairs within gardens, reserves, and parklands.
In addition, you will be responsible for cleaning, mowing, and general routine maintenance activities for facilities such as amenities, barbeques, playground equipment, structures, fences, and more!
To excel in this role, you must possess excellent communication skills, prioritise customer service and safety, work well in a team, and be able to operate independently. A strong commitment to sustainability practices and a willingness to learn and grow with the City are also essential.

About you?
We are looking for candidates with the following:
- Certificate lll Horticulture or Civil Construction or equivalent, and/or demonstrated relevant work experience
- Current Medium Rigid (MR) Driver's Licence
- National Construction Induction Certification (Whitecard)
- Demonstrated experience in gardening, labouring or horticultural operations
- Demonstrated experience in the maintenance of green spaces including operating small plant such as mowers, brush cutters, blowers, power sprays
What's on offer?
- Starting salary from around $59K - $60.5K (depending on your capabilities and experience) + 12% superannuation
- Permanent Full-Time 38 hours per week / Casual up to 38 hours per week
- Options to accrue flex time (RDO's) and flexible working arrangements.
