About the role
Reporting to the Environment Leader and forming part of a small on-site Environment team, the Senior Environment Officer will play a lead role in relation to environmental projects and ongoing operational environmental compliance.
This is a permanent fulltime position located onsite at Mt Piper Power Station, just west of the Blue Mountains and Lithgow, NSW.
We have flexible working options available such as a condensed week and hybrid working locations.
More specifically, the Mount Piper Power Station Senior Environment Officer is to undertake the following activities:
- Manage environmental investigations and compliance
- Analyse, interpret and manage environmental monitoring data, providing meaningful environmental advice to internal stakeholders
- Support the implementation of the Environmental Management System to ISO14001 standard
- Engage with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders
- Assist in the day to day management of environmental compliance with relevant licences and approvals
- Undertake internal audits and inspections
- Prepare compliance reports and presentations
- Coordinate Modifications to approvals and variations to existing licences
- Contractor management.
What we’re looking for
- Tertiary qualifications at minimum Degree Level in Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline
- Previous experience in a Power Station, mining, consulting or similar environment/ heavy industrial setting
- Experience in environmental monitoring and water management in a heavy industry setting including organisational representation to regulators, local governments and community groups
- Ability to build relationships with stakeholders, such as residents, government officials, regulatory and licencing authorities
- Experience writing capability, preparing environmental impact assessments and environmental management plans etc
- Extensive knowledge of the regulatory framework applying to environmental and water management and development approvals.
