About the Role
The Wastewater Distribution Operator maintains the sewer reticulation system and lead a work team in the maintenance and construction of sewer mains and pump stations within the Shoalhaven area along with ensuring the work area's compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies and ensure that risks are managed. Other duties include:
- Undertake scheduled maintenance of wastewater reticulation system.
- Responsible for the day-to-day direction and control of Attendants - Water/Wastewater and temporary staff, including coaching and on the job training.
- Construction of wastewater and water reticulation systems and pump stations.
- Repair main breaks and maintenance rectification of reticulation systems.
- Locate and clear sewer chokes (including the use of jet washing machines and CCTV equipment).
- Installation of Pressure Sewer Units and reactive maintenance to diagnose and rectify issues.
- Undertake frontline customer interaction in potentially challenging situations.
- Communicate with Operations personnel and Supervisors to ensure workflow is maintained at expected standards.
- Complete tasks using OneCouncil and WorxOnline systems and ensure the information is compiled is meaningful and accurate. Report any customer complaints to the Coordinator as required.

About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- Certificate III in Water Industry Operations, relevant trade qualifications or considerable experience in the maintenance or construction of wastewater/water systems.
- Current MR Truck Licence or must obtain within 6 months.
- Demonstrated competency to operate a Backhoe or Excavator
- Current NSW First Aid Certificate.
- Current National WHS Construction Card (SafeWork).
- Current NSW SafeWorkConfined Spaces Entry Certificate.
- Current NSW SafeWork Traffic Controller Certificate.
- Statement of Attainment for Removal of Non-Friable Asbestos.
- Crane Operation and Dogging Certificate of Competency.
- Demonstrated ability to utilise Council's current technology related to the position including WorxONLINE, OneCouncil, RITEQ, GIS and SCADA systems.
- Demonstrated experience and proven knowledge in water supply or sewerage systems operations, maintenance, construction, and repair.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, calculate and apply technical information and skills in the field. Sound communication skills (including proven ability to communicate effectively with customers and able to provide or obtain information and advice to peers and supervisors).
- Proof of right to work in Australia
