The role
We are seeking a creative and strategic Internal Communications Officer to join our People Transformation team. This is a temporary part-time position, working two days per week (Mondays and Tuesdays, 14 hours total).
In this key role, you will be responsible for developing and delivering internal communication strategies that support employee engagement, cultural alignment, and organisational change. You will manage internal communication channels, support key leadership messaging, and ensure consistency across Council’s internal and external communications.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
• Deliver engaging and targeted internal communications across various channels
• Support the CEO and Executive Team with messaging and internal initiatives
• Collaborate with stakeholders to customise communications for different workforce groups
• Align internal messages with external communications in partnership with the Corporate Communications unit
• Provide advice on best practice communications for projects and change initiatives
• Review and enhance internal communications processes and strategies• Review and enhance internal communications processes and strategies
• Manage multiple communication projects and contribute to organisational culture efforts
• Additional duties as required within the limits of the employee's skills, competence and training.

You will have
• Tertiary qualifications in Communications, HR, L&D or a related field
• Demonstrated experience in a communications role
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills for both print and digital platforms
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects independently and efficiently
• Experience in developing content tailored to diverse audiences
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capabilities
• Ability to work with confidential and sensitive material
Desirable: Change management experience and experience supporting organisational development programs.
The salary for this opportunity starts at $93,583.74 (Grade G, Step 1) plus 12% super, pro-rata to part-time hours.
