The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Asset Planner – Traffic and Active Transport to join CBCity and play a key role in the planning, coordination and delivery of the Rolling Capital Works Program through Council’s Project Management Office (PMO) and Project Management Framework (PMF).
This senior technical role provides expert leadership across traffic and active transport assets including traffic devices, footpaths and shared paths, cycleways, pedestrian and shared bridges, bus stops and street furniture. You will work closely with the Team Leader, asset coordinators, project teams and external agencies to support whole-of-place planning, ensure compliance with relevant standards, and contribute to strategic asset and capital works outcomes.
*This opportunity will be offered on a permanent full time basis
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Assist the Team Leader to develop and deliver the Rolling Capital Works Program through Council’s PMO and PMF, coordinating with other asset coordinators and team leaders to achieve integrated, whole-of-place project planning
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Council’s Delivery Program, Operational Plan and Unit Plan within a multi-disciplinary environment
- Provide senior technical input into the procurement of projects, including participation on assessment panels as a subject matter expert
- Review and approve draft and preliminary construction drawings to ensure scope, budget and compliance
- Prepare, review and maintain asset-related policies, guidelines, standard drawings and asset management documentation
- Contribute to asset prioritisation modelling, Asset Management Plans and cyclic condition assessments for traffic and active transport assets
- Prepare project briefs, programs, deliverables and contract documentation for the engagement of consultants
- Initiate and manage Traffic Committee processes, public consultations and draft traffic reports
- Coordinate surveys and data collection relating to traffic, transport, pedestrians and parking

You will have
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with considerable (5+ years) experience in Traffic Engineering
- Demonstrated senior-level experience in traffic and transport management, road safety and active transport planning
- In-depth knowledge of Transport for NSW (RMS) Guidelines, Australian Road Rules, Australian Standards and Austroads
- Strong experience in asset management principles, asset planning and capital works delivery
- Demonstrated project management experience, including preparation of project briefs, budgets, construction plans, specifications, BoQs and contracts
- Advanced skills in report writing, correspondence and stakeholder engagement
- Proven experience in community consultation, assessment and prioritisation of traffic needs
- Well-developed computer skills including Microsoft Office, MS Project, GIS applications, AutoCAD and traffic modelling software such as SIDRA Intersection
- Demonstrated experience in investigation, strategic planning, prioritisation and design of traffic and active transport assets
- Sound understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, guidelines, codes and Council policies
- Class C Driver Licence
- WH&S Construction White Card
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $115,347 (Grade I, Step 1)+ 3.5% CLA + Car Allowance + 12% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
