The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest Councils in NSW with the most culturally, socially and economically diverse communities in Sydney. We deliver 28 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 380,000 residents.
The role
We are seeking an organised and detail-focused Assets Officer to join our ICT Governance and Risk team. This permanent, full-time position is responsible for managing the lifecycle of Council’s ICT assets — from acquisition and inventory control to secure disposal. This is a great opportunity to support efficient ICT operations and make a real impact on how technology is managed across the organisation.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
• Maintain a centralised asset inventory system for ICT equipment and software
• Coordinate asset acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and disposal
• Conduct regular audits and ensure compliance with asset policies and data security
• Work with procurement teams and vendors on ICT purchases
• Oversee warranty, licensing and service agreement tracking
• Prepare regular asset reports and metrics for management
• Support secure data wiping and disposal procedures

You will have
• Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Information Technology or related discipline
• Proven experience in ICT asset management or inventory control roles
• Familiarity with IT hardware, software, licensing and lifecycle management
• Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills
• Proficiency with asset management systems and data accuracy
• Ability to prioritise tasks and collaborate with technical and procurement teams
• Current C Class Driver’s Licence
Desirable: ITIL certification, knowledge of ISO 55000, or experience in the public sector.
The salary for this opportunity starts at $82,701 (Grade F, Step 1) plus 12% super.
