Permanent, Full Time 35 hours, 5 days/week $88,502 to $96,976 + super Liverpool
JOB DESCRIPTION
Manage and administer Council's Tree Preservation provisions by assessing tree removal and pruning applications, reviewing landscape plans associated with Development Applications, and providing expert arboricultural and horticultural advice to staff and the community. The role also supports vegetation clearing enquiries and works closely with compliance teams to provide guidance on illegal tree removal matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the development and continuous improvement of Council's tree management and landscape policies and procedures.
- Provide expert advice to Council staff and the community on tree management, landscaping and horticultural matters.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote best practice in tree preservation and vegetation management.
- Assist in the assessment of tree-related issues and contribute to the delivery of effective tree management across the Liverpool LGA.
- Develop educational resources to increase community awareness of tree preservation and landscaping requirements.
- Provide technical support to compliance and legal teams in relation to illegal tree removal and land clearing matters.
- Ensure work is carried out in accordance with Council policies, procedures and safety requirements, while undertaking other duties within the scope of the role as required.
ABOUT YOU
You will bring Diploma level technical qualifications in horticulture, arboriculture or landscaping, or related field, along with a current Class C Driver License. You will have demonstrated experience in tree hazard assessment and landscape design, supported by strong knowledge of urban vegetation management, plant species, and the interaction between trees and the built environment.
You will possess a sound understanding of legislation relating to tree preservation and threatened species, as well as community consultation processes and customer service within a local government environment. Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and report writing skills are essential, with the ability to develop practical solutions, contribute to environmental strategies and work programs, and support training and education initiatives.

The salary (within the above-mentioned range) will be dependent upon the relevant skills, experience, and competencies of the successful applicant.
