About the role
Join us in shaping how our community reduces waste, recycles more and keeps Sydney clean.
At City of Sydney, we’re committed to creating a sustainable, liveable city for everyone. We’re looking for a skilled communicator who can turn complex information into simple, engaging messages that inspire real behaviour change.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll plan and deliver communication and engagement that helps residents understand and use our waste and recycling services.
You’ll work across a wide range of campaigns, channels and projects, bringing together clear messaging, strong storytelling and digital tools to make a real impact.
What you’ll do:
- Plan and deliver communication and engagement activities and plans that support our waste and recycling goals
- Create content across multiple channels including print, web, social media and email
- Write and edit clear, engaging content that is easy for our community to understand
- Use data, insights and AI tools to improve targeting, efficiency and impact
- Work closely with internal teams, agencies and partners to deliver high-quality outcomes
- Manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment
What you’ll bring:
- Experience delivering communication or engagement campaigns that drive behaviour change
- Strong writing and content development skills across digital and traditional channels
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Confidence working with stakeholders and building strong relationships
- Curiosity and adaptability, including being comfortable using AI and new technologies to improve how we work
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
