We are looking for a Senior Legal Officer to join our Legal Services Division. This is a specialist team that prosecutes serious complaints against health care practitioners and conducts related reinstatement and appeal proceedings.

About the role
We are looking for a highly organised and motivated person to provide legal, project and administrative support to the HCCC’s Legal Services Division. Your work supporting our solicitors will include preparation of counsel briefs, preparing chronologies and documents, collating large and complex schedules, drafting correspondence, obtaining transcripts and exhibit material, attending on subpoenas and assisting with the Commission’s legal cost recovery work. You will be given opportunities to stretch yourself to develop your legal skills and gain valuable experience.

About you
To be eligible for this role, you will be undertaking or have completed tertiary legal/paralegal studies or have previous relevant experience. You will deliver work of a high quality within the timeframes imposed by the Tribunals or the solicitors you are supporting. You will be focussed on detail and proficient in all aspects of the preparation of legal matters, including conducting research. You will utilise technology efficiently and you will be able to prioritise and resolve competing demands in consultation with your manager. Most importantly, you will work well as part of a dedicated and enthusiastic team.
Essential Requirements
The HCCC has a unique and critical part to play in maintaining the integrity of the NSW health system. As such, it is an essential requirement that all prospective employees are able to carry out their duties in an honest and consistent way, with uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values.
