JOB DESCRIPTION
Liverpool City Council is seeking a highly motivated and talented candidate to fill the Senior Urban Design Advisor position. This position is situated within Council's City Design and Public Domain team, which comprises of specialists in Urban Design, Architecture and Landscape Architecture, collectively working to achieve design excellence outcomes across the Liverpool LGA.
The successful applicant will be a suitably qualified, skilled, and experienced Architect, Urban Designer or an Urban Planner, with key interest in shaping design outcomes that are people focused and aims to achieve best possible solution.
Key outputs for the role include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Review and provide commentary and guidance in relation to urban design and public domain plans prepared in conjunction with development applications and planning proposals.
- Landscape, environmental and urban design advice to internal officers and external customers as required.
- Representing Council as an Urban Design expert in all Land & Environment Court (LEC) matters.
- Developing a framework of urban design and public domain controls and guidelines and detailed concept designs for streets and urban spaces as urban renewal occurs
- Design oversight and input on reports and recommendations with a considered and balanced approach to pedestrian amenity, active transport, traffic management and the design quality of the public domain.
- Specialist architecture and urban design input into Council's broader capital works and sustainability programmes and to green infrastructure projects to improve the natural and built environment.
- Conveying design ideas through graphic presentation and drawing / sketch is highly desirable.
- Preparing presentations, briefings, correspondence and writing reports and issues papers as required.
- Convening Council's Design Excellence Panel.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning or an associated discipline;
Experience working on design projects;
- A high level of written, verbal, and graphic communication skills, including proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Cloud software packages (i.e. InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator);
- Be self-motivated, practical, outcome-focused, with the ability to work autonomously, manage a complex and dynamic workload, and achieve results; and
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills.

Salary within the above-specified range, will be dependent on the relevant skills, experience, and competencies of the successful applicant.
