Are you qualified with a passion for green spaces? The City of Canning is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Streetscape Attendants to join our new Streetscapes Specialised Team, focused on maintaining and enhancing the Long Park and City Centre precincts.
About the role
Offered on a permanent, full-time basis and reporting to the Supervisor Streetscapes, the Streetscapes Attendant is responsible for performing the operational maintenance of the City’s streetscapes gardens and green spaces, to present a positive image of the City.
A snapshot of your new role:
- Undertake streetscape maintenance in a safe and efficient manner compliant with City Policies and directives
- Assuring quality of work is performed to a high standard
- Conduct daily maintenance on vehicle, trailer and plant and equipment
- Carry out various maintenance tasks to ensure the City’s Street gardens and green spaces are maintained to a high level of amenity including but not limited to, litter/waste removal, pruning, hedging, mulching, weed control and turf upkeep.
- Minor use of herbicides to chemically control grasses and weeds in street gardens, and green spaces where appropriate.
What you will bring to the role:
- Demonstrate experience in horticulture, gardening, landscaping, or turf management
- Certificate III in Horticulture or Parks and Gardens would be desirable
- Demonstrate competent plant identification skills
- Pest, disease and weed identification and control
- Experience in tree/shrub planting and maintenance
- Experience in hand/precision/motorised pruning and turf mowing tools
- White Card
- Basic Worksite Traffic Management accreditation, or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Chainsaw ticket would be desirable
- Current Western Australian “C” class driver’s licence
- Current National Police Clearance
