Systems Accountant
We’re seeking a Systems Accountant who combines strong accounting or IT expertise with highly developed critical thinking to improve financial systems and processes. This role partners closely with stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions, enhance system performance, and ensure a customer-focused approach to delivering outstanding service and support.
About the role
Our Systems Accountant plays a key role in supporting the management and coordination of the City’s financial activities, with an emphasis on accountability, integrity and continuous improvement of all financial reporting, processes and controls.
A snapshot of your new role:
- Manage the optimisation of finance modules to gain efficiency with a continuous improvement and user experience focus.
- Coordinate process mapping across the Finance Team.
- Develop and maintain financial system and data integrity and develop reports to manage data exceptions.
- Monitor financial system performance and liaise with Business Systems team for enhancements or support.
- Maintain the City’s chart of accounts to ensure integrity and consistency with accounting structures and conventions.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, dashboards, and financial modelling.
- Establish new procedures to effectively maximise efficiency and effectiveness of new system procedures.
- Work closely with other teams on the implementation of modules to the corporate ERP system to ensure effective financial integration

- Coordinate preparation of training materials, including design, development, delivery with Finance team.
What you will bring to the role:
- A formal qualification of accounting, finance, ICT, or related discipline, and demonstrated extensive experience in a similar role (minimum 5 years).
- At least 5 years of practical experience of working within a complex ERP system and expertise in improving functionality of the ERP system, in both local government and financial ERP systems.
- Extensive understanding of accounting principles and internal financial controls.
- Proven experience in the implementation and/or management of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
- Proven experience in the implementation and facilitation of business process improvements to deliver operational outcomes and efficiency across sub program areas.
- Highly developed critical thinking with a customer focus to delivering outstanding customer satisfaction.
- Current Satisfactory National Police Clearance.
