Waste Operator
Maitland City Council has an exciting opportunity within our Waste Services team for a skilled and reliable Waste Operator, looking to expand their experience across a broader range of waste collection services.
The Opportunity
In this dynamic role within the Relief Waste Collection Team, you'll play a key part in supporting our waste collection teams and helping keep our community clean and running smoothly. Every day brings something different, from repairing and delivering new bins for residents to assisting our side loading waste collection vehicles and bulky waste collection crews when needed.
You'll also lend your skills to the team at the Maitland Resource Recovery Facility, contributing to important waste management and sustainability services across the region.
We're looking for an experienced and reliable operator who enjoys variety, works well across different tasks, and takes pride in supporting a high performing Waste team.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Hold a current HR licence with demonstrated experience operating side loading waste collection vehicles, ideally in residential kerbside collection
- Be a productive and reliable team member, with a strong safety mindset, good interpersonal skills, and a commitment to delivering quality service to the community
- Be flexible and capable of supporting a variety of waste operations as needed.
Whilst not essential, the following will be highly regarded:
- Experience operating rear loading vehicles and working in bulky waste or illegal dumping collections
- A current traffic control ticket
- Front loader or forklift experience
- A General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
Benefits
This is a full-time, permanent role working a 38-hour week, with a salary range of $70,469.10 to $77,946.28 per year based on demonstrated competencies (inclusive of allowances and weekend penalty rates) + 12% super + additional Public Holiday penalty rates when applicable. This role works across a 7-day roster, working 1 in 4 weekends. Shift lengths are 7.6 hours, completed within the Waste Services Operation hours from 4:15am to 4:30pm.
