About the Role
In this role, you will help shape how Council communicates with our communities by developing strategic communication plans and creating engaging content across digital and print channels. You will work closely with teams across Council to understand issues, provide effective communication solutions, and support strong information sharing. With a focus on proactive media monitoring and clear, audience focused messaging, you will play a key part in educating the community and strengthening Council's reputation. This includes:
- Write communications plans specific to each project that provide best approach to reach target audiences.
- Develop written, audio, video and photographic content for all media including digital, traditional, internal and external platforms.
- Meet regularly with teams across Council to understand current issues, learn about projects and initiatives and provide communications advice.
- Collaborate with the Media and Communications team to cohesively update content to social media, website and other digital platforms.

This is a grade range position, therefore in accordance with qualifications, accreditation, experience and demonstrated skills, the prospective employee will be assessed as either Grade 8, 9 or 10.
Grade 8 - $76,302.20 - $85,765.68 gross p.a. plus 12% Super
Grade 9 - $82, 529.72 - $96,073.64 gross p.a. plus 12% Super
Grade 10 - $91,148.72 - $104,698.88 gross p.a. plus 12% Super
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- Degree in communication, journalism, public relations, OR equivalent experience (please see below grade range)
- Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)

Graduate or substantial experience that demonstrates knowledge of the relevant communication/media theories and the required skills.
- Understands and has worked in the industry
