Maitland Regional Art Gallery has a dedicated audience with over 120,000 visitors annually making our Gallery one of the most visited cultural destinations in the Hunter-region. Our Gallery presents award-winning exhibitions alongside engaging and varied public programs, educational offerings and an in-depth Arts Health program.
Our diverse and vibrant Collection includes over 8000 works by Australian and international artists and continues to grow through selected acquisitions and generous donations.
The Opportunity:
Maitland City Council is seeking casual Gallery Officers to join the Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAG) Visitor Engagement Team, to deliver exceptional customer experience to all Gallery visitors.
As a Gallery Officer, you will contribute to an outstanding visitor experience at MRAG by supporting community engagement, maintaining the presentation of the Gallery, and assisting with the effective administration of gallery services.
On a day-to-day basis, alongside your core role of providing exceptional visitor engagement, you will support front of house administration, including, but not limited to, MRAG Store sales, ticketing and MRAG Memberships, Maitland Visitor Information Services, as well as monitoring of the security of artworks. Event support for public programs and venue hire may be required on occasion. Availability to work weekends and after hours is highly desirable.
About you:
To be successful in this role you will have a Certificate IV in Arts Administration, Business Administration or equivalent demonstrated experience, as well as a current NSW Working with Children Check.
Further, you will have experience providing exceptional customer service, processing sales and demonstrated experience in the provision of client services to a diverse audience. Knowledge or familiarity with Australian Art terms, methods and mediums is also highly sought after.
Benefits:
This is a casual opportunity, working across Tuesday - Sunday, with a base rate of $38.24 per hour + casual loading + 12% superannuation + weekend penalty rates.
